I often talk about the importance of continuous learning – no matter what our field of work is, we should all be lifelong learners. One of the most convenient ways to learn is through podcasts. In fact, 74% of people who listen to podcasts claim they do so in order to learn new things.  

Estimates state that there are more than 117 million podcast listeners in the United States alone (an increase of 10% from the previous year), and that number is expected to grow. That’s no surprise when you consider their benefits.   

While traditional educational tools can be time-consuming, learning through podcasts requires a lot less time and effort, and you can learn while carrying out other activities.  

Podcasts are one of the best ways to stay up to date with the latest marketing trends. In the list below, I recommend some of my favourite marketing podcasts. Whether you’re new to podcasts or you’re looking for new material, hopefully, there will be something to inspire you, answer your burning marketing questions and help you grow your business.

They provide practical marketing advice to help you improve your strategy, and for those who want to avoid marketing gimmicks, it’s a must-listen.

Joe Pulizzi’s practical advice and Robert Rose’s marketing acumen will keep you on the edge of your seat and you’ll have a good laugh while learning. They dissect the industry in a structured format, and their big-picture perspective helps listeners understand what matters most in marketing. Always helpful, often enjoyable, and roughly 60 minutes long.

On the My First Million podcast, hosts take a deep dive into different business opportunities and explain how to make the best out of them. What makes this podcast so great is that it’s more than a business or marketing podcast – it’s a conversation between friends. They say their podcast will be the best damn podcast that you ever heard. Tune in to keep up with new business concepts and the market changes that motivate them.

Learn about effective thought leaders’ and experts’ marketing methods, tools, and advice. The host, John Jantsch, is a well-known marketing expert and in each episode, he gives practical advice for today’s digital marketer, alongside a variety of interesting guests. Each episode is around 15 minutes long and topics commonly addressed include content marketing, branding with purpose, SEO, and strategic networking.

This podcast is perfect for increasing your marketing knowledge across the board. All the episodes include advice that helps listeners get more from their marketing efforts. It’s a well-researched podcast and, even though things can get a bit too technical at times, it’s a great resource for keeping on top of developments in marketing technology.

This podcast is great because they cover the latest topics and updates in the field, while also bringing humour and insights. Has SEO haunted you for a very long time? Tune into this podcast as the hosts demystify the complexities of Search Engine Optimisation with quickwitted banter. The show presently has around 500 episodes, and new ones are released every two weeks via a live stream on Facebook and YouTube. Since its conception in 2009, The Unknown Secrets of Internet Marketing has had more than 3.6 million downloads.

The Google ecosystem controls most of the internet, so it’s always a good move to know what’s going on with Google and to stay up to date with any new changes that might come through them. Search Off the Record is an interesting podcast by the Google development team, giving us insights into their inner workings. The search relations team gives us background info on the decision-making behind launches, feature prioritisation in Search Console, and the projects Google Search teams are working on”.

The focus of this podcast is on giving listeners the momentum they need to grow both their company, and their reputation as the industry authority. The podcast was listed in Forbes as one of the “21 Podcasts for 2021”. What I like about it is that it’s not only about strategies and tactics, but also the mindset that you need to have in order to be a successful marketer. Even though it’s mainly aimed toward women, this podcast is a refreshing insight into the correct mindset required to be a marketer; so, anyone can benefit from listening.
